Van Gogh Update

Sorry no pictures.  Just wanted to let everyone know that Chrome's... err I mean Van Gogh's ear is looking much better today.  The swelling went down so the skin is touching again instead of gaping apart like it was.  I got a NFZ puffer at work today and it worked so much better than trying to touch it to put ointment on.  While he was eating supper I just puffed the powder all over the cut and he never even lifted his head.  :D  When the pain isn't so bad I'll go back to using Corona and tea tree oil.  So I just wanted to let you know he still has his ear.

I'll update again tomorrow after Rocky's third Oxine soak.

  2. So sorry Chrome cut his ear. I was bummed when Emi cut her eyelid, so I totally understand.

    1. I was freaked out when Emi cut her eyelid! I'm glad Chrome's is his ear and not close to his eye. I'm so glad Emi healed up so well. Can you even see the scar anymore? Thanks for the comment!

  3. I just caught up. I'm glad that his ear is healing. Looking at the photo it looks like a clean cut so I bet there won't be a scar (or not a noticeable one!)

    1. Thanks! I don't think it's going to leave a scar either. I'm so amazed at how fast it's healing!! I've heard people say head wounds heal fast, but I haven't seen it right before my eyes like this before.

  4. I'm glad it's healing quick. This morning I caught Bombay pushing his ear between the gate and frame of the barn and sliding it up and down between them to itch a mosquito bite. I'm sure there are some rough edges there. Sometimes I get ant or mosquito bites that drive me so crazy that I wish I could just cut the skin out. I'm sure horses feel the same way sometimes.

    1. I have too!! As far as wanting to cut the skin out. Chigger bites are bad too. I can't imagine how Chrome feels with his sweet itch. It must be like having chicken pox or maybe poison ivy, but I don't remember ever having either so that's just a guess. I feel so sorry for him. He hates summer. I'm getting to where I kind of agree with him. I hope Bombay doesn't hurt his ear. They find the oddest ways to hurt themselves.... horses.... sigh!
