A day off plus recurve fun and Endomondo.

I gave Chrome the day off even though the weather was gorgeous again (and won't be again for a long time) because his stifles were sticky.  We probably did too many circles yesterday.  I think we will only do arena workouts one or two times a week until his stifles get stronger.  Circles are hard on them.  I'll also go large in the arena and not focus too much on 20 meter circles.  Other than that he's doing great and neighs at me every single time I go outside hehe.

I was bored and started looking up mileage trackers like MapMyRun and in the process I read something interesting.  As long as you have internet/signal at the start of the ride on Endomondo it doesn't matter if you lose internet/signal during the ride because GPS continues to track it....... how did I not know that???  I don't have internet on my phone (not a smart phone) so I thought there was no way I could ever use it.  What I never thought of is my Android tablet!!!  I can start Endomondo while at home right before mounting up and then I'm good to go!  Now I can track my distance, time and average speed when we go on trail rides or when we ride at home in the arena!  So cool!!!  A tablet is a lot more bulky to carry around than a cell phone, but that's okay.  I'll just get some small saddlebags or something lol.  I'm so excited to have a better way of tracking our rides, because I would really love to track my total mileage for 2015.  :D  Now I can!  It's so exciting!

Also I completely forgot to mention on Ride 81 where Chrome kissed a bull that hubby was looping his bike around behind us when Chrome stopped suddenly and hubby ran into his haunches and got his handlebars tangled in Chrome's tail.  It was hilarious!!  Chrome didn't care lol.  Hubby was fine.  I edited the post and added it in, but I thought I would mention it here too for everyone who has already read it.  :)

Okay last bit of news.  My hubby gave me my Christmas present early.  An awesome recurve bow!!!!!  I've always wanted to learn archery so I'm super excited.  Of course I'm already dreaming of riding Chrome in the SCA and shooting my bow hehe.  This was Chrome's first time really getting to see my bow.  I LOVE these pictures!

Can we just say OMG that neck!!!

Zep was curious too!  Love the sun in this picture.

He looks so Arabian when he's showing off.  :)

He loved the fur silencers hehe.

 Sniffing the other fur silencer.

Kisses!

Smiles!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.  Our weather is about to turn to crap, but I'll try to sneak out between rains to try out the Endomondo.  :)

  1. Endomondo is wonderful as long as you're not using an older iPhone like me. ;) It's what Liz uses to track her rides. One of my favorite features of the ap is that it will call out your mileage and pace with every mile, so you get to hear how far you've gone.

I can never get over how beautiful your boy is. I just realized you're letting his mane get longer! You had pointe out his windswept mane in previous posts but I just registered! I like it. I you going to keep it this length or see how long it'll grow?

    2. Aww thank you, you're so sweet. I'm letting his mane grow out for the winter. I'll let it go as long as possible in the spring, but he will start tearing it out when his sweet itch comes back. That's when I'll roach it. :)

What problem does your Iphone cause with Endomondo? I'm using an Android tablet that's pretty new. My parents bought it for me for Christmas last year. :)

  2. What I love about grey horses is the way the white eyelashes show up against their eyes. That's about all I love about grey horses. JK.

I visited an SCA event with Baasha, where I learned to use a wooden sword to take down plastic heads from a row of stakes. It was fun, and to Baasha, it was "just one more crazy thing I have to do for her." Seattle is the Barony of Madrone. A friend of mine in Madrone does jousting with his Fresian. Their motto is Equusi! Equusi! Equusi! (Latin for "Horsie! Horsie! Horsie!") *lol* No one seems to know what the SCA is in Germany.

    1. Aww I'd be sad without the SCA! It's so fun. I can't wait to do some of the equestrian events with Chrome. He just needs a lot more experience before trying to do something like that.

I love the white eyelashes against their eyes too. I have a feeling I'm not going to love keeping him clean though. ;)

    1. Thanks!! I'm really excited. I've always loved archery, but never had the chance to try it. I've also always kind of been a wimp and couldn't pull one, but this one is perfect weight for me. :)

  4. Woop, love the photos. The osteo that treats the horses does archery from horseback, next time I have her out I'm going to ask loads more questions as then Nancy can really be my War horse. I very much doubt Kika could handle the sound of the arrows letting lose

    1. Nancy would make a perfect war horse!!! I have several kinds of silencers on my bow, so the noise shouldn't bother Chrome at all. I just have to get him used to having it waved all around his head. He stood behind me while I shot it for the first time and was absolutely fascinated! I love his curiosity! :D
