Ride 86 - New Helmet

I got a new helmet.  It is the Tipperary Sportage 8500 that I posted about before on my wishlist.  It is soooo comfortable!  It might be a tad big (my head measurement was actually half an inch over the top size it comes in!), but if it were any tighter front to back I would get headaches (I got headaches in my Troxel if I wore it long), so I'm good with that.  It comes with a lot of extra padding so I got it fitted pretty well.  It seems to come down lower than what I'm used to all the way around, but I can see.. it only looks like it's covering my eyes because of the shadow lol.  When I wiggle it front to back it moves my eyebrows and I can tip my head upside down without it falling off so I think it should be fine.  I just need to get used to it.  I wore my Troxel for thirteen years so yeah a new one is going to feel weird.  I'll get better pictures later.  I got held up late at work, but I was determined to ride since it wasn't raining (finally!), but it got dark really quick.

Chrome's larger French link bit should be here tomorrow or Saturday so I'm still riding in the halter for now.  We only worked for twenty five minutes, but we did some trotting and I even cantered him up the full length of the driveway three times with no crowhopping, head ducking or anything.  He actually can maintain a canter for more than three strides haha.  :)

He looks so Friesian when he's on alert, staring at the neighbor horses.

Here are some really creepy dark pictures with flash.

It was a short ride, but it was awesome (very foggy too!).  He was so relaxed and listened so well. I'm very proud of him.  :D

Also thank you for joining my blog hop!  I'm glad everyone enjoyed it.  :)

  2. Hi, I love that color blue on that model. I wonder why it seems that people who use this helmet seem to adjust it very loosely, so the chin strap seems, from my perspective, to be hanging down.Good that it moves your eyebrows when you move it, t hat's the most critical thing. Yawning should be difficult due to the straps - have you tried yawning?

    1. I'll definitely have to try the yawning! Good idea! The strap looks loose for two reasons. One is because it's attached on the outside of some very thick padding so the strap doesn't lay against your face around your ears. It's really weird. The other is because it has a leather Velcro thing that goes around the buckle. It's stiff right now and needs to break in some. I'll get pictures in good light and close up this weekend to show you what I mean. It's really weird. The chin strap was the only thing I don't like about the helmet but I think I'll get used to it. Thanks for the suggestion about yawning. I'll definitely be tightening the strap some more as it breaks in. Right now it feels like it's choking me but it does stop me from staring at the ground a lot haha!

    1. Thanks!! He really does! I told hubby he didn't have to take anymore pictures because it was so dark but when Chrome started posing hubby took them anyway. I'm glad he did. :-)

    1. Thanks! Since this was my first helmet to order on my own I was worried it would be a disaster, but luckily it turned out great. :)
