Ride 90

Sorry for the double post, but around eight thirty pm I remembered that today is 12-13-14 and that's the last time this will happen for a hundred years so I just had to ride Chrome since I had missed it the previous two years.  So even though it was dark outside (VERY dark because of the clouds) I went outside, put on my helmet, put his halter on and hopped on bareback.  We didn't do much because of the dark.  I rode for twenty minutes, but it was mostly posing for pictures and then trotting up and down the driveway a little and one short canter back to the pasture (I just realized I cantered bareback in the dark in a halter on a green horse when I couldn't even see the ground.... cool!!... or stupid haha) before calling it a night.  Here are the spooky nighttime pictures (I'm glad the flash doesn't bother him hehe).

Pictures in the dark are creepy!  He's still cute though.  Please ignore my too short sweat pants and white socks.  At least I wore all blue from above the ankles hehehe.  Also the above pictures shows the huge bucket that I feed Chrome his ration balancer in.  It's great for slowing him down and he doesn't flip it with his pawing (it's not really pawing... he likes to hold one front leg in the air while eating, but he did tip over smaller buckets).

Checking out the neighbor's Christmas lights.
Also notice the reflector on the back of my new helmet?  Cool!

Love this!  I changed it to black and white to get rid of the eerie green Chrome.

 Christmas lights through pony ears.

Very creepy, glowing eyed goats and donkey (and t-posts in the background).

Posing with Jackal under the street light.  Lots of glowing eyes!

Also I didn't realize hubby was taking pictures with his cell phone when we tried the halter on Chrome earlier today.  Look at this awesome shot he got!!

 I LOVE it!!!!!!

 So handsome!

That neck!!!!

I'm glad I got to ride today after all.  Today is just another day technically, but it's still cool to say I rode in the dark on 12-13-14 hehehehe.  I'm weird!

Oh and one more thing.  Here is a video (in slow motion) that hubby got of Chrome earlier today in his pretty halter.  When I refer to the dirt pile/hill in the pasture this is what I'm talking about.  It's actually a huge pile of dirt that came out of our pond when we had it dug fifteen or twenty years ago.  Over the years it has started to dwindle as we use the dirt for flowers beds and things, but it's still big enough to ride on.  It used to be twice as wide as it is now and quite a bit taller.

Anyway I hope you all enjoyed the pictures.  :D

  1. Hee hee. I was going to affectionately call you a weirdo for insisting on riding because of the unique date, but you called yourself weird first. Actually, I'm glad you pointed 12-13-14 out, because I would have never noticed.

  2. Well 12-13-14 will happen in 100 years too, but I think it's cute you wanted to ride because of the date.

There was a geocaching event yesterday that met at 3:16 pm and 17 seconds, so the entire date/time combo was 12-13-14 15:16:17. The event was in Germany although it used the American date convention of month/day/year, although no one does that here.

    1. Thanks! This was the second time I've ridden him in the dark I think. It was really weird at first because my eyes hadn't adjusted and I couldn't see the ground so it felt like I was closer to the ground than I was or like I was walking. It was really hard to balance until my eyes adjusted! Very weird, but cool! :D
