Chrome Ride 136 - 100 Ride Challenge Ride 22 - Rocky Ride 12 (with us)

Hubby and I rode the horses out on the road after work.  We rode 51 minutes, but only 1.62 miles. Part of the ride was on the property and part was spent working on standing still (Chrome is being a turd about not wanting to stand still), so that distance wasn't recorded, just road miles.

Both boys did great!  Rocky tried to turn around a couple of times and Chrome was being very balky when we were walking away from other horses (didn't matter if we were going toward or away from home), but otherwise they were good.  I was blown away with how great they did when we rode by a stallion that I had NO IDEA lived on that road (he's new apparently).  He was slamming into the barbed wire, doing that long drawn out stallion neigh and even had his business out and ready for action (if you know what I mean lol).  Chrome and Rocky were excited, but not out of control at all.  In fact, to my surprise, Chrome didn't even try to drag me over to him like he normally does.  I'm thinking maybe he knew he didn't want to tangle with that horse...  I won't be riding down that road again until he's gelded or gone though because I did not like how he was testing that fence.  I thought he was coming over it at one point...... scary!!!

Someone threw a trash bag full of garbage on the side of the road.  Chrome arched his neck and gave it the hairy eyeball, and then he totally surprised me by approaching it.  I let him, because I love that he wants to approach scary stuff.  He got close enough to where he could reach down and push a coke bottle with his nose (it rolled into the ditch when he pushed it) and he lost interest and walked off like nothing ever happened.  I was cracking up!!  Maybe he wanted to play spin the bottle?? ;)

Other than that it was a pretty uneventful ride.  Hubby used the western saddle and determined that it definitely hurts his back.  The treeless saddle is the only one we've found so far that doesn't hurt him, so I'm definitely going to have to get the correct pad for it.

Anyway, I have to go to bed right now, so that's all the talking.  Enjoy the rest of the crappy cell phone pictures.  I bet you can't guess which ones come from my cheap personal cell phone and which come from hubby's expensive work phone.....

 Goodnight!

    1. I was actually really surprised that he walked right up to it like that, even though he arched his neck. When he rolled the bottle I just lost it. He cracks me up so much. :D

    1. Thank you!! That stallion totally freaked me out. It wasn't just the thought of what he could do if he got to us, but also the thought of what he would do to himself going through that barbed wire. It just could have been a really bad situation all around. I'm not riding that way again until he's gone or gelded....

  3. Sounds like a fun ride! Chrome is such a steady ride - especially for a greenie.

    1. Thank you! He really is. If I keep this up he's going to lose his greenie status. :D
