After three weeks I finally rode Chrome lol. I mentioned in my last post that I got sick and then my best friend came home from working out of state so I've been really busy. She goes back to work in August so I may continue to be a little scarce for a while. I would do my blogging while staying at her house, but she doesn't have internet!!! At first I was having serious withdrawals, but after a while I realized it was kind of nice to not be tied to a computer all the time. We spent all our time riding horses, riding four wheeler, shopping for campers (she needs a new one since she's going to keep travelling for this job), buying plants and fruit trees for 50% off (score!!), etc. Busy, busy, busy. :D I'm back home for a little while (she lives in my old town so I stay with her when I visit) because hubby needs a break from taking care of the critters and I missed Chrome and my pups. :)
Today was the first day since I've been back home that it hasn't been so hot and humid outside that you think you're suffocating (or drowning)... so of course I decided to ride Chrome. He's had long enough of a break lol. He was such a good boy! He wanted to graze a few times, but I reminded him not to. He was also veering back toward the pasture if I wasn't holding the reins (like in the pic above), which is so annoying. One of the things I always loved about him is that he's not barn sour..... but the flies were bothering him so maybe he was just wanting to seek shelter. When we went up the driveway he was fine. We both want to trail ride so bad!
This picture is cool because it shows how high his head goes when he's alert. I love the upright necks of Friesians and Friesian crosses hehe. For perspective check out the photo below that was taken two seconds later. Notice the gate in both of them...
After meandering up the driveway and back we decided to have some fun....
And played in the duck wading pools LOL! He makes them look tiny. He had fun splashing in the water and even wanted to put his hoof in it, but I didn't let him because he could mess up the plastic.
Then we wandered off to hang under the apple tree..... and I taught him how to pull them off the branches all by himself LOL!!! It was so cute. My husband had come home for lunch (LOVE that he works a job where he can do that!!!!!!) and came outside to see Chrome stealing apples off the tree and me laughing so hard I could barely take pictures, so he offered to take some pictures.
I'm on Chrome's back. My husband was taking these pictures. Chrome trying to find an apple....
.... he found one and bit down....
..... and PULLED! :D So cute! He loved his apples lol. I only let him eat one because they aren't mature and I don't know if that's bad for them or not. He spit most of it out because there was a piece of branch stuck to it and he couldn't figure out how to eat it. Anyone know if apples that are about half grown are okay?
My narcoleptic pony pretending like I've overworked him LOL!
We only rode for just under twenty minutes, but we had fun. :D
P.S. Do any of you follow Denali's blog? It was called Green n Green = Black and Blue. Is it gone? Did she take it down? It was at www.wildponybeast.com, but it's not anymore. :( What about Sydney's blog at Bitless Horse Science vs. Tradition? I can't find her's either. I always worry when blogs just disappear..... maybe it's a server issue with their web hosts? If anyone knows please leave me a comment! Thanks!
The last post by denalismom was that she had her baby and was about to move to Alaska. I know when she moved her blog to a website she would have to keep up on the domain name, that is likely what happened. She posted just a week or two ago so she is still around. I don't know about Sydney.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your ride, glad you got to finally ride!
Thank you Appy! I remember her posting about her baby but I totally forgot about the move to Alaska!! I'm sure that's what it is. Thanks for putting my mind at ease about her at least. Maybe someone else will know about Sydney. :)
ReplyDeleteYou and Chrome look great!!
ReplyDeleteI've been so busy the past months... haven't been keeping up with reading any of the blogs I follow.
Glad to see that you two are having fun riding together. From the pictures, it looks like he was having a great time. :)
cheers,
Mary
Chrome looks great! I don't know about the apples - I think Baron would probably want to do the same thing!

Glad to see you're back on board! Echo used to be turned out in a field that had apple and pear trees in - she mastered the art of rearing, standing on her back feet and pulling the fruit off the trees. Needless to say...she got a little fat that year!
ReplyDeleteI've nominated you for a Liebster award - do pop over to my blog to pick it up - http://diaryofayounghorse.blogspot.co.uk/ :)

ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are having the same summer as I am. Lots of horses, sun, and friends. Glad to see you checking in.
